FAQs

Here we answer some of the most common questions you may have prior to choosing Contoura® Vision.

What is LASIK?

LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted in-SItu Keratomileusis. It is a type of Laser Vision Correction procedure that uses light energy to reshape your cornea and correct your eyesight.

Why does accuracy matter?

When you go for LASIK surgery, accuracy can make all the difference. That’s because every cornea is shaped differently and made up of thousands of elevation points. When your eye is as unique as your fingerprint, it’s important to go for a laser eye procedure that precisely corrects your vision.

Am I a candidate for LASIK?

It’s best to consult with an eye doctor to determine if you are an eligible candidate for LASIK surgery. The eye doctor will have to perform some preliminary eye exams on you before you can undergo laser eye surgery.

How much is LASIK?

The cost for a LASIK procedure varies on a number of different factors. What makes Contoura® Vision worth it and different from other LASIK procedures is the level of accuracy and customization you can expect. This could be one of the considerations to look at and discuss with your eye doctor.

How is Contoura® Vision done?

Before your Contoura® Vision procedure, your eye doctor will perform a preliminary eye exam to determine if Contoura® Vision is right for you. Your doctor will then take the measurements needed to create an accurate map of your cornea’s topography.

During the Contoura® Vision procedure, you will receive anesthetic drops to numb your eyes. Guided by your personalised topography profile, the laser will correct your vision by precisely reshaping your cornea based on up to 22,000 elevation points.1

After the Contoura® Vision procedure, healing begins – generally without pain or bandages. Remember to use the medication prescribed by your eye doctor, and follow any additional post-procedure instructions he/she may give you.

Is Contoura® Vision worth it?

Because of Contoura® Vision’s accuracy, your vision is likely to improve after the procedure. In fact, 92.6% of nearsighted patients achieved 20/20 vision or better*1, and it outperformed glasses and contacts in over 30% of eyes (vs. baseline BSCVA)+1. Up to 98.4% of patients are satisfied and said they would choose it again‡1

+At 12 months. BSCVA is defined as Best Spectacle-Corrected Visual Acuity.
In a subset analysis of 124 patients, 122 responded that they would have LASIK again.

How safe is Contoura® Vision?

Because Contoura® Vision uses topography-guided technology, it only targets the parts of your cornea that need to be corrected.1 This makes it one of the most accurate and safest types of LASIK around. It has been shown to reduce visual disturbances, such as halo and glare, in patients who had worn glasses or contact lenses before having Contoura® Vision.2
